Hair Donations Galore

January 17, 2015

It was a sad day for me when my eldest daughter decided to donate her beautiful long blonde hair. Yes, it was selfish of me, but there…. I said it. I was sad. I was also proud that she thought of others… and started a trend in our family three years ago.

I was glad when my youngest daughter decided to donate her beautiful long dark brown hair. Yes, it was selfish of me, but there…. I said it. I was glad. I was the one who had to comb through it and watch her overly dramatic face when I hit tangles. I was also proud that she thought of others… and kept the trend in our family going.

It was a HAPPY day for me when my eldest son decided to donate his beautiful long blonde hair. Yes, it was selfish of me, but there…. I said it. I was HAPPY. I was also proud that he thought of others… and continued a trend in our family last night!

I’m not quite sure how I feel about three of my four children being able to donate their hair….. I’m thankful that son #2 told me he would never grow his hair that long.  Thank you, Keeve!

On a side note, we researched the companies where you can send your chopped off ponytails for donations. There are some shady companies out there who sell the hair you send them.  Do your research before you mail your hair!

Zaza’s Bags ~ Check ‘Em Out!

July 14, 2008

As you may or may not know, I was at kid’s camp this week having my patience tested by children ages 8 – 12.  It was a rewarding experience, bar none.  <smirk>  I only made one bag ahead of time for the Bags for Zaza adoption auction, so I can almost humbly say, “The bags are AWESOME this week!”  Go check them out here:  www.bagsforzaza.blogspot.com

Chic.  Cool.  Contemporary.  And laptops fit in these beauties.  The top distressed denim bag was a source of releasing frustrations for my sister-in-law as she razor cut, bleached, sanded and randomly sewed this uber-cool bag.  My cutie-pie niece is modelling the Fox and Hound bag above.  This one is designed for the modern woman of the oh-eights.  (That’s hip talk for 2008….. FYI.)

Grace for the Moment(above) was my mom’s first contribution for BFZ.  It is a design wonder with numerous fabrics and textures and her name is Grace.  (ahhh) Lime green is so cool with brown.  These bags inspire me to shop for new outfits to match them even if I don’t have the bag….. sorry, Hon.

For those moms with boys, here is a list of items that fit in any of the Bags for Zaza:  Lego ships, size 3 emergency underwear, HotWheels, pirate eye patches, silly putty (only in it’s egg), slinkies, rocks, sticks, rubberbands, necklaces made out of the twist ties from the produce section, key rings, homemade crystals, Heelys wheels, the entire skateboard helmet (but this is not recommended for long time storage), skate laces, magnifying glass, gum wrappers, magnets, dice, marbles, cap guns, etc.

Come on.  Bid on a bag.  Help bring an orphan home to her family.  :o)  THANKS!
